The Foster Foundation is a philanthropic organisation that is solely funded by retired Real Estate pioneer, Mrs Louise Foster, the first woman real estate agent on Queensland’s Gold Coast in Australia. Together with her two children, Jillian and Peter, and only grandchild, Arabella, the Foster family has provided support and assistance to the people of Fiji for over 30 years.
The Foster Foundation provides philanthropy for people. It funds projects that helps people directly. It finds out what people need and improves peoples lives. It does not support “ivory tower” type philanthropic projects.
It has built housing, paid for the education of underprivileged children, and for further education by way of a scholarship programmes to Universities and the Fiji School of Medicine.
Epeli Kurikutogo is a former boat boy who through the Foster family’s support was able to obtain his degree in medicine and is now employed at the Lautoka hospital. (To read Epeli’s story, click here)
In 2001 during the election campaign , the Foster Foundation it was the major donor to the New Labour Unity party, led by former Deputy Prime Minister, Dr Tupeni Baba.
It also has established and continues to fund and maintain a welfare shelter for animals.
The Foster Foundation does not raise funds from outside sources or accept donations from third parties. It is a private family concern that donates its own money for charitable causes.
